How do you attest to the readiness of a chain you do not own?
That question has stayed with me since ESMA asked firms to test their entire ecosystem ahead of Europe's T+1 move in October 2027. Removing a day from the settlement cycle removes the day breaks were quietly found and fixed — and it exposes how little visibility most institutions have across counterparties, agents and market infrastructures.
The article is about why this is a dependency-mapping problem rather than a systems-upgrade problem, and why sovereignty belongs in the same conversation. How is your firm approaching it?
